Edmonton's Klondike Days Exposition was a popular summer, themed festival (1962 to 2004) which celebrated the Gold Rush era at the time when Edmonton was deemed as 'Gateway to the North'.

Each year, the organizers hired a singer to not only perform during the 10 day festival but take on an ambassadorial role as well. Her persona for those 10 days was patterned after Katherine Rockwell, (Klondike Kate) a popular singer/dancer in Dawson City, during the Gold Rush. Kennedy was hired to perform as 'Klondike Kate' in 1996, 97, and part of 1998. A lot of smiling, a lot of hand-shaking, a huge workout for the vocal chords, but a whole lot of fun.
